A rapid and coordinated response by MFS and CFS firefighters prevented a potentially devastating fire at a rural property in Wistow today, October 17.

Authorities were called to a Hillside Lane property at about 12.30pm, following reports of a garage fire. The prompt response by firefighters was later credited for preventing the fire from spreading to the property’s residence.

While the garage suffered an estimated $60,000 in damages, the CFS said the quick containment spared the homeowner a significantly higher damage bill.

Fire Investigators attended the scene to determine the cause.
